A Day in the Life of a Supercuts Stylist

Earlier this week we took a film crew to one of our salons to show you what it’s like to be a Supercuts stylist. The fabulous Stephanie Waugh from our creative team was our stylist in the spotlight.

Stephanie had a busy start to the day. As soon as she opened the salon, the first customers were through the door. Throughout the day she produced some amazing cuts and colours for customers. Some of our favourites were;

Low light tips on a gentleman. He wanted some colour to give his style that extra something. Stephanie gave him black tips on his naturally brown hair and reshaped his style. This changed his whole look and he walked out of the salon over the moon.

Another favourite was a lady who had a full head of curly locks. She asked for a look she could show off to all her friends. Stephanie had just the thing. She started by adding some gorgeous blonde slices, then blow-dried her hair straight. The look transformed the customer and she said for once she didn’t look like her mum; which made us all laugh!

After lunch we sat down with Steph and asked her a few questions about being a Supercuts stylist and also what it’s like being part of the creative team.

Describe your average day.

I arrive at the salon half an hour before we open so I can prepare for the day. I then set up my station with the products I use the most (DesignLine Figi Oil and DesignLine Silk Drops). Supercuts is a no appointment necessary salon so each day is different. I normally see around 10 people a day.

Do you get any regular customers?

Yes, I get a really great mix of new and existing customers. It’s nice to build up a rapport with my existing clients and to see how their style evolves over time.

And what about your creative team role?

When I’m not working in the salon I train stylists up and down the country. I absolutely love teaching other stylists the latest techniques and they also teach me a thing or two.

What styles are popular in salon at the moment?

A lot of customers are asking for the ‘dip-dye’ look at the moment. I also have a lot of ladies asking for vibrant blonde locks with dark roots.

For the guys the quiff and the 50’s bouffant looks are really popular. Also, the side parting is a big hit with the boys at the moment.

We’d like to say massive thank you to Stephanie for letting us follow her around for the day. And thank you to the team at the Milton Keynes Salon (735 Midsummer Boulevard, Milton Keynes Tel: 01908 234050). You can see Stephanie in action on our Youtube Channel.
