A/W14 Hair Colour Trends

As the leaves start to change colour and the nights become darker, the itch for a seasonal shake up begins to emerge too. As A/W14 gets closer, our team of trained colour experts are on hand to help you find the right hue for you. With our insider knowledge and trend predictions you’re sure to be one step ahead on your journey to the very top of the style stakes next season.

In an unusual divergence from the customary deep chocolates that come with the cooler months, sun-kissed shades are staging a sit in as platinum blondes and bright whites are set to take the limelight. Instead of just warming up colour palettes, the coming season will embrace icy tones of brilliant blonde and shades of almost silver. Think somewhere in between Ice Queen and Goldilocks and you’re almost there. We’re also expecting to see a spectrum of creamy caramels and soft honeys to whet your appetite for an all over tint or subtle flecks of muted golds accentuating light neutral brunettes. Yellowy blondes are something we usually steer well clear of but throughout A/W14 we’re going to be embracing that golden girl-next-door glow.

Bold blonde block colours are a great place to start if you’re considering trying out the dusty pastel trend that is set to kick up quite a fuss next season. Everybody from Katy Perry and Kesha to Fearne Cotton and Kelly Osborne have all donned a pastel hue or two and we just can’t get enough of it. These shades work best on a light base and can be a great way to bring your ‘do bang up to date or experiment with something new. Our favourite shades are powder pink, baby blue, lavender lilac and spearmint green and the best thing about this trend is the more it fades, the more à la mode your colour pop will be.

If you’re more of a traditionalist and have your heart set on that rich autumnal tone then you’re going to fall in love with next season’s variation on ruby reds. For A/W14 think more along the lines of deep strawberry blondes and fiery cinnamons when it comes to selecting your seasonal shade. Warm coppers with bronzy undertones just scream autumn as they warm the complexion and bring out your natural glow no matter what the weather. As winter settles in, you can drop your colour to an even cooler hue to stay fashion-savvy and stylishly seasonal simultaneously.
