Celebrity Braid Inspiration

With everyone from the TOWIE girls to the Kardashians sporting braided styles recently, you don’t need us to tell you that braids are big news this season.

Whether is precise pigtails, boho twists or ethereal halo braids, there’s a plaited style to suit pretty much every hair length and type. We’ve picked out a few of our top celebrity braids to get you feeling inspired…

Sam Faiers gave us a fresh take on the side braid back in April, opting for a stylish twist instead. To steal her style, split your hair into two equal sections rather than three and loosely wrap them around each other, leaving a few inches un-plaited at the end before securing with a hair tie. This look works best on long hair that’s all one length or with long layers to avoid chunks of hair falling out. For Sam’s super glossy finish, work a smoothing serum like Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops through the lengths and ends before you begin your twist.

We can always rely on Iggy Azalea to put a quirky spin on a classic style. Her braided updo from Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala was the perfect mix of sophisticated and adventurous. Keep your tresses super sleek to pull off this look – run the ghd Eclipse through the lengths to recreate Iggy’s polished finish.

We loved, loved, LOVED the beautiful Michelle Keegan’s relaxed side braid at the BAFTA TV Awards. So effortless and summery, it’s such a versatile look that’s equally at home on the beach as on a night out! Keeping your hair dishevelled is the key here so style on day-old hair if you can. Work DESIGNLINE Texture Tousle through the lengths to create Michelle’s lived-in texture before loosely braiding the hair, taking it round to sit on one side. Allow a few strands to fall out as you go to stop the style looking too perfect. Finish with a mist of hold spray like TIGI Bed Head Maxxed Out Massive Hold Hairspray to keep your look secure.

Emma Roberts looks adorable with this super-cute milkmaid braid. To recreate her look, take an 8 inch section of hair from the nape of your neck and split into two 4 inch sections. Plait each section to the end and bring them up to pin into place on the top of your head. Make sure there’s a slight overlap between your braids to create the illusion of one continuous braid.

Katy Perry and Khloe Kardashian never shy away from a bold trend. Uber long, tight pigtails don’t sound cool at first but these ladies manage to pull it off! If you think you can bring their too-cool attitude to the style then we definitely think you should give it a try!
