Festival Style: Coachella

M

Festival season has officially arrived! It’s time to dig out your hippie dresses, denim shorts and floral headbands as we get ready to embrace the relaxed, bohemian festival vibe.

Kicking off the season with a bang is the ever-glamorous Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival with its super-cool, laid-back Californian style. Coachella is always a popular festival for the most stylish celebs so we’ve been keeping an eye on the top hair trends they’ve been rocking this year.

Grey is definitely a hot colour for summer, combining the popular pastel and metallic trends to perfection. Jourdan Dunn opted for silver locks especially for Coachella and we’re loving the multi-tonal result! If you’re thinking of dipping into the grey trend, pop into your local Supercuts salon for a chat with one of our professional and friendly stylists who’ll be happy to advise you further.

Model of the moment Gigi Hadid has been making the most of this season’s ’70s trend, sporting colourful headbands and wearing her long blonde tresses in beautiful tousles. To get the look, part hair in the centre and work DESIGNLINE Texture Cream Casual Styler through towel-dried locks before blasting dry. Mist over Paul Mitchell Heat Seal before taking a few random sections around the front and gently curling them using the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand, directing the curls away from your face. Break up the curls using your fingers to create soft, textured waves and finish with a spritz of Redken Quick Dry.

Kylie Jenner opted for a more playful, colourful look with this turquoise shade. Looks like she’s following in Hilary Duff’s steps, who swapped her blonde hue for blue a few weeks ago – find out how to steal their style here.

We’re loving Katy Perry’s alternative take on pigtails too. The strong definition of her style means she manages to look more glamorous warrior than shy schoolgirl! This is fairly straightforward to create: part hair in the centre and run through Matrix Total Results Sleek Blow Dry Leave-In Cream before blow drying straight. Work a shine serum like TIGI Bed Head Control Freak into the roots to give Katy’s glossy finish. Divide hair into two equal sections and secure each in a low ponytail before plaiting each section and securing with a hair ties.
