When it comes to getting creative with hair, Kylie Jenner is definitely one of our celebs to watch. At just 17, the youngest of the Kardashian clan has already sported more hair trends than most of us probably will our lifetime! From playful dip dyes to a sophisticated bob cut, we’ve charted some of her best hair looks to date…
She may have “almost ruined” big sister Kim’s wedding with her quirky choice of hair colour, but we loved Kylie’s turquoise dip dye! The contrast against her dark locks helps create a striking difference that certainly grabbed our attention! The dishevelled bun she wore to the American Music Awards last year really helped to show off the different tones to perfection.
Long and luscious, this balayage colour really suits Kylie and is a great way to subtly lighten dark tresses while keeping the end result natural. The tousled texture complements her colour perfectly, creating an enviable beach babe finish. Spray Fudge Salt Spray onto dry tresses and work through with your fingers to create similar texture.
Bobs are still the must-have hairstyle of the moment and Kylie’s a fab example of how wearable it is for teens. Typically seen as a more “grown-up” style, she definitely oozes sophistication here but the blunt cut ends and chunky texture give her look a much younger edge. High shine is the key finishing touch for this look so a spritz of TIGI Bed Head Headrush is a must.
Following in the footsteps of sisters Kim and Khloe, Kylie’s experimented with blonde hues. Lightening locks as dark as Kylie’s can be tricky and we always recommend taking a gradual approach. We asked our Creative Director for his expert advice:
“Depending on condition we need to be thinking about starting the process by free hand highlight placements, a technique we now have available in salon. This will give instant lightness to any dark bases in the hair, or for the braver guest we can begin a colour change by stripping out any built-up tones and opting for a mix of rich honey tones. The key is to use a variety of shades, building them up to create a multi-tonal finish so you don’t end up with the unnatural block colour. Making a feature of the darker roots, like Kylie has, makes the maintenance much easier for naturally darker hair as you don’t need to worry about desperately drying to hide your regrowth.” Kieron Fowles.
And if you fancy recreating her vibrant green locks from September 2015, pop into salon and ask our stylists about our iNSTAMAT!C pastel colours. They’re semi-permanent so if you don’t want to commit to green full-time, it’s the perfect way to experiment with your look!
