What to expect in salon post-lockdown

Salon post-lockdown

It comes as no surprise that many of us are eager to get back into salon post-lockdown as soon as possible. I mean, #lockdownhair has been trending for a reason, right? In fact, a recent survey suggested that visiting salons were among the top three things people are most excited for post-lockdown. Along with going on holiday and eating in a restaurant.  

Our great value hair and beauty services from your favourite team members will still be as good as you remember. But there’s no denying things will feel a little different. The Coronavirus pandemic has meant putting in place additional (and quite stringent) safety measures. These new provisions are for the protection of you and our teams. The good news is, we are prepared, confident and excited at the prospect of many salons reopening from 4th July.  

At the time of writing this, official government guidelines related to social-distancing protocols in salon have yet to be released. But we’ve got a pretty good idea what they will look like so we’ve made a head start. All Supercuts safety measures can be viewed in Our Commitment To You. We will update this as and when new information becomes available from the government.  

We’re also still waiting for a planned reopening date for our salons in Scotland and Wales – fingers crossed this will be soon. Be sure to follow us on InstagramFacebook and Twitter for the latest updates.  

Along with so many of you, we are excitedly counting down to reopening. And know that our teams are working relentlessly to get salons nationwide equipped and ready for your safe arrival. Keep reading to get an idea of what your next salon visit might look like. 

Instead of walking in, you will need to call ahead 

This is probably the biggest change for us at Supercuts, so we thought we’d start here. As there will be no waiting area in salon, you will need to call ahead to reserve a time slot. We’ll be adhering to strict social-distancing rules, which will limit the of number of time slots available each day. When you call us, you will be able to reserve a time slot for the same day or next day, subject to availability.  

If you’re thinking about reaching for your phone right now to get a head start, then sadly, you won’t be able to. Our phonelines aren’t open just yet (at the time of writing this in mid-June). However, if you follow us on social media we’ll tell you exactly when you can start calling your local salon.  

Your arrival will be different in salon post-lockdown  

As you enter our salons, things might look a little different. We’ll have messaging on posters around reception that detail our safety protocols (defo take the time to read these). Mostly these will be reminders about social-distancing and hygiene, but it’s important that these are always observed. You’ll also notice our safety screens at reception – again, it might look strange but they are in place to protect us! We also encourage that you arrive promptly (unaccompanied) to avoid congestion in salon. We will also provide you with a disposable mask and gown. And kindly ask that you leave your mask on and only remove it once you have left the salon. 

Hand sanitisation will be necessary  

You will be asked to use hand sanitiser before your stylist or therapist is able to begin your service. Our teams will also be required to use hand sanitiser between each appointment as well as regularly wash their hands throughout the day. 

As much as we love seeing guests explore our display stands, we kindly ask that you refrain from touching products. Instead, let a team member know you’re interested in purchasing a product. They will wipe the products down before placing in a bag for you to purchase and take home at the end of your service. We should also point out that we won’t be able to provide refreshments or reading material – but if the ruling changes, we’ll be sure to let you know. 

Our team will be wearing protective gear 

Hopefully this will come as no surprise in salon post-lockdown. Our teams will be wearing face masks and protective aprons throughout your service. And if you’re at the wash basin, they will also wear a face visor and gloves when washing your hair. They will also use every other workstation or will have installed safety screens to maintain social-distancing. 

As many will attest, part of our job is the social side of enjoying a good a chit chat! By wearing protective equipment all day however, it can start to feel a little hot and uncomfortable. So, please don’t feel that our team members are purposely not as talkative as you recall. It may just be a little more challenging to talk with a mask on! 

Stringent hygiene standards will be in place 

This will include things like the cleaning of all tools and product packaging after use. And of course, disinfecting all salon surfaces regularly throughout the day. Our teams are also barbicide accredited. This means they have full understanding of proper sanitation and disinfection practices and procedures consistent with the current highest industry standards. 

Our spirits will remain high in salon post-lockdown 

Even with all the cleaning, reduced availability and protective gear, we are still feeling a sense of optimism. We are excited at the prospect of welcoming you through our salon doors once again. If the last 3 months are anything to go by, this lockdown has reaffirmed for us how much we rely on hair services to look and feel great! 

We appreciate all the support and kind messages we have received during what has been a challenging time for everyone. Our teams are very much looking forward to seeing you in our salons again soon.
