Earlier this week, the 2011 Style Wars finalists Monika, Ryan, Chris and I headed to London to lend a hand at the Central Saint Martins MA Fashion show during London Fashion Week.
Before heading to the venue, we got together for a quick drink to calm the nerves and chat about how excited we all were.
Soon it was time to get going, so we hopped onto the tube with all our kit for the short journey accross London to the stunning Somerset house. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by chaos! There was a real buzz around the place with guests, models, photographers and celebrities milling around outside.
The one celeb that really stood out was T4’s Jameela. She looked absolutely amazing. Everything from her hair, to what she was wearing and the way she handled the cameras was perfect. She was a real inspiration.
After taking in the atmosphere, we headed back stage to get to work. We were given a short demo/brief on what style the designers wanted the models to have. Each model was supposed to have an ‘undone’ look; we started by twisting the hair first to blow-dry, then used tongs to add a slight kink and layered it with powder boost so it looked dry and not shinny.
After a mad rush to get the models ready, we watched the show from back stage. All of the model’s hair looked amazing and their outfits were fantastic.
It was a great day, and an experience we’ll never forget assisting Jonny Engstrom at Guy Kremer for L’Oreal Professionnel. Monika, Ryan and Style Wars winner Chris all did a fantastic job, and I’m really proud of their efforts.
