Recently, Supercuts artistic team member Bradley Byrnes was sent on his most exciting challenge yet – a shoot for Company Magazine, in Ibiza!
Blogging about his experience, Bradley gives us an insight into his ‘hottest’ shoot yet…
“After one very early flight and a short taxi ride to the hotel near Playa d’en Bossa, I had a few hours to spare before meeting Company magazine, so I decided to explore the area to find a good shoot location.
“Later that evening I made my way to the Hotel Es Vive to meet the team working on the shoot – fashion stylists, make-up artist, art directors, two photographers and our model Sophie. Having also done a recce of the island, we decided the best location for our ‘modern hippy’ brief was going to be the beautiful Old Town. With light stone walls, cobbled streets, incredible views overlooking the island and steep hills, I knew it would be a busy day so decided to get an early night in preparation.
“The next morning I met with our model, Sophie, to prep her hair for the shoot before she went into make-up and styling. The first look was a braided updo – exactly the kind you might choose to wear at the beach to turn your hair into perfect beachy waves in the evening.
“After getting the perfect first shot, I had to quickly take her hair out for the next shoot which took place in a busier square at the top of the Old Town. As we were away from the hotel I was forced to improvise a salon seat…
“This obviously made it slightly trickier than a normal shoot but it also means that all the featured styles on the shoot are easy to achieve on holiday when you want to spend more time on the beach – or in the bar – than you do styling hair.
“After causing a bit of a fuss with the tourists, it was back to the hotel for a short while to colour the model’s hair. Then it was back up to the Old Town square for our final shoot of the day – beachy texture with pastel colours, inspired by the blues of the sea and the pale pink flowers in the Old Town.
“Back at the hotel we decided to treat the Company team to a few hairstyles too – one of which was a mussy fishtail plait created on the fashion stylist, Laura – before heading out for a meal to celebrate the shoot.
“All in all, it was a fantastic experience as a hair stylist and a member of The Edge. I love that my job gives me the opportunity to take part in these kinds of activities away from the salon, and can’t wait for my next challenge.”
The Supercuts shoot will be featured in Company magazine’s Ibiza Issue out Friday 4th July. Stay tuned for hints and tips on how to get the looks.
