’70s style and braids are both hot trends at the moment. Braided updos were seen everywhere at the SS15 Fashion Weeks, from Michael Kors in New York to Gyunel in London. We’ve taken inspiration from these stunning catwalk looks and created a beautiful, wearable braided updo that’s perfect for parties and nights out. And the best part is, it’s simple and straightforward to create! Watch our video tutorial with Bradley Byrnes from The Edge artistic team to get the look…

Step 1: Prep the hair by lightly backcombing with a brush and smoothing over the top.

Step 2: Smooth Wella Professionals Mirror Polish serum through your locks to tame flyaways before sectioning into four sections: fringe, right, left and behind your ear.

Step 3:  French plait your tresses, starting from the fringe and working the braid round to the left, incorporating hair from the side as you go. Finish the braid behind the ear and pin into place. Repeat on the right side.

Step 4: Gently backcomb the remaining hair and mist over Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight for added shine.

Step 5: Gather hair into a mid-ponytail and split into two, plaiting each section and securing with a hair elastic.

Step 6: Wrap the plaits around each other to form a bun and pin into place. Finish the look by loosening a few strands using the end of a tailcomb.
