Festival hair trends 2018: The new and the revived

Ok, so Glastonbury may be taking a break this year, but it doesn’t mean you have to! With loads of festivals still lined up in the months to come we are super buzzed about this year’s festival hair inspo. From nineties throwbacks, braid-mania and the return of the space buns, we’ve taken inspiration from the hottest trends of S/S18. Whether you’re off to Bestival, Lovebox or if like us you’re just craving some major Coachella-inspired vibes, here are our top picks for all you revellers…

Return of the space-buns

The S/S18 twist of this space-bun is bigger and bolder than when it started trending a couple of years back. Section off your hair so that your buns are big…back-comb until your heart’s content and spritz some dry shampoo in there for an ultra-textured look. Secure in place with a plastic coiled hair band and some bobby pins. Remember – the messier the better (not too messy though or they won’t last more than a day). Leave the rest of your hair in loose waves instead of super curly or poker straight for that natural ‘I-woke-up-like-this’ look (which you probably did).

Blue hair, don't care ?

Bohemian Chic – colour me pastel

We couldn’t resist paying homage to our festival-favourite. Visit your local salon and transform your locks into a summery, pastel colour to give your hair that radical makeover you’ve been dreaming of. To top it off why not try showing off your colour with a bohemian-inspired hair style? The root growth trend isn’t going away any time soon, so don’t feel bad about having it on show! If you’re not a whizz at complicated braids, try scattering a handful of simple skinny plaits throughout loosely tousled hair to give you that subtle festival vibe. Don’t forget that you don’t need to book an appointment to visit one of our salons, so if you want to leave this to the experts – be our guest!

It wouldn’t be a festival without…

Glitter is back! If you didn’t get round to trying it out last year, now is your chance. And guess what, it’s even easier than before. This year, the look returns with an understated twist. This time you don’t need to give your hair a strong parting, just add some strong-hold low-shine hairspray around your roots and scatter your glittery gems. You don’t need any real method to this – randomly pouring your glitter will do the trick and will add to that messy result which we think looks best. If the glitter falls and sits past the root, including your forehead and hairline, that’s ok too!

Warning – glitter goes everywhere… literally! So be prepared. If you don’t fancy finding glitter for weeks to come, and if you’re after a heavier, more professional glitter root, then visit one of our salons so that our expert stylists can work their magic.

That’s one big plait

If you’re short on time, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We’re head over heels for the major side-swept uber thick plait. Pull your plait apart slightly to add texture and volume. Set your fringe free as well as a few extra loose strands to frame your face. It’s super quick and looks awesome.
