First Miley, then Rihanna and now the Queen of style, Beyoncé, has joined the list of celebs going for the chop and stylists at Supercuts predict hundreds of women will be following in her footsteps.

Laura McCool, creative stylist at Supercuts, gives her top tips on how to recreate and manage this fierce style:

“Going for the chop is a bold move as you’re really exposing your face and its features but if you’ve got bags of confidence like Beyoncé then it pays to be daring with your hair. The pixie crop is bang on trend for the androgynous fashions we’ve seen on the AW catwalks. Far from being masculine, a cropped cut can highlight and accentuate your feminine features like Beyoncé’s beautiful big eyes.

“When asking your hairdresser for a pixie crop, ask for an uneven textured cut which will give lots of license for versatility. Some women shy away from a short cut because they don’t want to be stuck with one look for months but with the right cut, you can have a hundred different styles in one just through a bit of styling and the right products.

“I love Beyoncé’s matte textured cut, which follows on from the beachy ‘undone’ trend that we’ve seen this summer. To get this look use a quality powder like Regis Designline Powder Boost to add volume at the roots and dull down excess shine. Then use a small amount of matt texturising clay to mess up the back and bring the sides into a rough point either side.

“For a night out, the pixie crop can be swept back into a sleek quiff or you can release your inner rock star by using clay or wax to stand the hair up straight – the possibilities are endless.

“What’s more, cutting your hair short leaves it in great condition which means you can experiment much more with colour. Blonde shades look amazing on a pixie crop, especially the washed out pastel shades that are really big with celebrities right now.

“The key to maintaining a crop is to make sure you visit the hairdressers regularly for a trim to keep the structure of the cut intact. If you get a great cut then day to day maintenance is minimal – you could even roll out of bed, tweak your hair slightly, then head out the door look as fabulous as Beyoncé herself.”
